    När ditt barn har fyllt ett år kan det i stort sett äta samma mat som resten av familjen. Nu grundläggs de matvanor som ofta följer med långt upp i livet. De här råden kan hjälpa er på vägen till goda vanor.

    Bra mat för små barn:

    Barn behöver näring för att växa och utvecklas. Eftersom små barn inte äter lika mycket som vuxna behöver de mat som är rik på vitaminer och mineraler. Samtidigt är det inte vad barnet äter vid enskilda måltider eller dagar som är det viktiga, utan vad det äter under en längre tid. Målet är alltså inte att försöka få varje måltid perfekt utan att i det stora hela erbjuda bra mat.

    Det som är bra mat för barn är också bra mat för övriga familjen. Eftersom barn inte själva vet vad som är bra för dem, behöver du som förälder leda vägen. En bra regel är att du bestämmer vad som ska serveras, medan barnet bestämmer hur mycket det vill äta.

    Kostråd barn – Vad ska barn äta?

    För barn, precis som för vuxna, är det bra att äta varierat, det vill säga att äta många olika sorters mat. Då får barnet i sig den näring det behöver – protein, kolhydrater, fett, olika vitaminer och mineraler.
    Genom att servera olika sorters mat hjälper du också barnet att vänja sig vid många smaker. Många barn är skeptiska till ny mat och kan behöva pröva ett nytt livsmedel många gånger för att vänja sig vid den nya smaken. Det kan vara lättare att ta till sig en ny smak om den serveras tillsammans med mat som barnet redan tycker om.

    Även om det är bra att äta varierat är det inte hela världen om barnet skulle äta samma mat i en hel vecka. Barnet får inte näringsbrist för det. Det du kan göra är att i stället försöka variera tillbehören och mellanmålen. Om barnet under en längre tid bara äter ett fåtal rätter kan kosten bli alltför ensidig. Prata med sjuksköterskan på barnavårdscentralen (BVC) om vad du kan göra då.

    Kroppen mår bra av att få mat regelbundet – frukost, lunch och middag och 2-3 mellanmål. Det blir också lättare för barnet att lära sig skillnaden mellan att vara hungrig och mätt. Undvik småätande mellan målen, så att barnet orkar äta ordentligt vid måltiderna. Det är inte heller nyttigt för tänderna att alltid ha något i munnen.
