    Under sommarhalvåret och mitt i semesterplanering kan det vara lätt att glömma en så viktig punkt som att ta vaccin mot TBE. Därför vill vi påminna dig om varför detta bör prioriteras!

    Vad är TBE?

    TBE är en virussjukdom som sprids av fästingar. Sjukdomen ger i de flesta fall lindriga symptom, men kan också leda till allvarligare sjukdom – i värsta fall besvär som inte läker helt och hållet.

    Vilka är symptomen på TBE?

    Om man smittas av TBE får man ofta lindriga besvär med huvudvärk, muskelvärk, trötthet eller feber. Detta brukar gå över efter ett par dagar. Upp till en tredjedel får en inflammation i hjärnan eller hjärnhinnorna som kan medföra betydligt allvarligare besvär. För vissa personer kan denna typ av infektionen bidra till besvär som aldrig försvinner. Det kan handla om svårigheter med balans, koncentration och minne. I allvarliga fall kan även förlamning förekomma.

    Vad finns det för behandling mot TBE?

    Idag finns ingen behandling mot TBE. För att undvika smitta är det bara vaccin som säkerställer skydd. Om man bor eller vistas i riskområden är det extra viktigt att vaccinera sig mot TBE.

    Varför ska man vaccinera sig?

    Riskområdena har blivit fler och även om risken är liten för att få besvär som aldrig försvinner, så finns den. Vaccination är det enda sättet att undvika smitta, då kan du vara trygg i att familjen håller sig frisk.

    Riskområdena är södra och mellersta Sverige, framförallt i kusttrakterna kring Stockholm, Södermanland och Uppsala. Även i Västra Götalandsregionen. TBE-viruset sprider sig runtom Sverige och numera är Skåne, Blekinge, Kronoberg, Kalmar, Jönköping, Östergötland, Örebro, Värmland, Västmanland, Dalarna och Gävleborgs län drabbade.

    Vad ska man tänka på inför vaccinering

    – Ha koll på listan över riskområden! Om du bor eller vistas i ett riskområde så bör du och din familj vaccineras.
    – Vaccinera barn tidigt, redan från 1 års ålder.
    – Vaccinera familjen i god tid innan fästingsäsongen börjar för att få ett så säkert skydd som möjligt. Fästingarna kan vara aktiva så länge som från mars till november, så om du överväger att vaccinera dig är det bästa att göra det så fort som möjligt, även om det inte innebär fullt skydd denna sommar.
    – Både barn och vuxna kan drabbas av TBE, så se över vaccinationsskyddet för hela familjen.

    Vad händer om jag smittas innan jag hunnit vaccinera mig?

    Vid utebliven vaccination och eventuell smitta så gäller Child insurance samt Sjuk-och Olycksfallsförsäkring för vuxna. Vi är oftast noggranna med försäkring av saker som våra bilar där de flesta har en full försäkring, men så glömmer vi bort att försäkra det mest värdefulla vi har. En child insurance hjälper er familj ekonomiskt vid skador eller sjukdomar och är en trygghet som följer med ända upp till 25 års ålder.
