MamaTummy Day
For all mothers
After childbirth, your belly may look healthy and well on the outside, but inside you may be struggling with invisible birth injuries and problems. These often include pelvic floor disorders, urine leakage, abdominal wall distension and abdominal muscle separation. All women have the right to receive the help and care they need to regain control of their abdomen and pelvis after the stress of pregnancy.
April 25 is MamaTummy Day, a day dedicated to the mother's body. Together with Länsförsäkringar, we want to use this campaign to draw attention to the physical strain of pregnancy and the recovery required afterwards.
The day is initially an initiative of Karin Woxnerud and MammaMage
Pregnancy is considered the biggest thing a woman's body can go through. Yet there is a belief that recovery after childbirth can be relatively quick. We want to see a better understanding of how pregnancy affects the body and what problems can arise - and persist for a long time after childbirth. We believe that all women have the right to the care they need to heal after childbirth - and that this care should be normalized.
Pregnancy is incredibly stressful and postpartum abdominal and pelvic floor problems are common. Therefore, it is good to perform gentle and effective exercises during pregnancy to prevent these problems.
Karin Lundström, who is a certified MammaMage trainer, guides you through several different workouts to prevent any problems later on. All videos are available to watch for free on the Baby Journey app.
With Länsförsäkringar's pregnancy insurance, you are entitled to compensation of SEK 500 for visits to a physiotherapist for, among other things, pelvic floor disorders.
