    Missfall är när en graviditet avbryts av sig själv och de flesta sker tidigt i graviditeten. Missfall är vanligt och beräknas ske i ungefär en av fem graviditeter. Du är med andra ord långt ifrån ensam om du går igenom detta.

    Missfall sker oftast innan graviditetsvecka 12 och anledningen till att det sker är oftast okänt. Det kan bero på att något gått fel i den tidiga delningen av embryot, kromosomavvikelser eller infektioner eller sjukdomar hos den gravida. Det kan även bero på spermiens kvalitet. Bara för att du får ett missfall betyder det inte att du inte kan bli gravid igen.

    För att minska risken så kan du undvika alkohol, rökning och andra droger. Du bör även äta extra tillskott av folsyra enligt livsmedelsverkets rekommendationer. Vissa läkemedel ska du inte ta om du planerar att bli gravid, för att veta vilka kan du rådgöra med förskrivande läkare eller legitimerad apotekspersonal.

    Vilka symptom kan man få?

    Symtom på missfall kan vara lågt sittande buksmärta, såsom kraftig menssmärta, och vaginal blödning. Dessa symtom betyder dock inte att det måste röra sig om just detta. Oftast tar kroppen hand om ett missfall själv. Ibland händer det dock att kroppen inte gör det, då kallas detta för missed abortion. Detta kan upptäckas vid ett ultraljud och om det sker efter vecka 12 kallas det för sent missfall. Om kroppen inte tar hand om missfallet själv kan du komma att behöva skrapas, vilket innebär en lätt operation, alternativt få medicin som fullbordar missfallet.

    Vad händer efter ett missfall?

    Efter ett missfall ska blödningen minska allt eftersom tiden går. Så länge som blödning kvarstår ska du undvika penetrerande samlag utan kondom, mensskydd i slidan och bad.
