    Tips you need for twinning

Welcoming two or more babies into the family at the same time is a great joy, but it can also be a challenge - especially when it comes to breastfeeding. With the right help, breastfeeding twins is possible.

Breastfeeding twins gives the breastfeeding parent a great opportunity to be close and save some time by feeding both babies at the same time. Once breastfeeding is established, many people find that breastfeeding is much easier than bottle-feeding two babies. It can feel tricky at first before both parent and baby have learned, and as a parent of twins it is easy to blame the circumstances of having twins. So don't forget that it feels unfamiliar and tricky for most people at first, even for those who are breastfeeding one baby. Some people prefer to breastfeed one baby at a time in the beginning, to allow both parent and baby to focus, but also to get to know that particular baby.

    Tips for breastfeeding twins

    - Make sure you have a good breastfeeding pillow or other cushions so that you can support your baby against them and keep your hands free.
    - Try to teach both you and the babies to breastfeed both at the same time, as soon as possible.
    - If you stimulate both breasts at the same time, i.e. breastfeed both at the same time, more milk is produced.
    - The baby who gives the breastfeeding sign first gets to decide the pace, i.e. when it is time to breastfeed.
    - To get the breastfeeding technique down, many people prefer to breastfeed in a position where the babies' heads are facing each other and the babies' tummies are facing your tummy.
