    Har du hört talas om slemproppen och att det kan vara ett tecken på att förlossningen närmar sig när den lossnar? Vi reder ut vad slemproppen är, hur du ser skillnaden mellan en slempropp och en flytning samt hur nära förlossningen faktiskt är när den lossnar!

    Vad är slemproppen?

    Slemproppen bildas redan i fjärde graviditetsveckan och sitter som en plugg i livmodertappen mellan slidan och livmodern, som ett extra skydd för att skydda fostret från bakterier och infektioner. Den skyddar fostret fram till slutet av graviditeten och lossnar i samband med förlossningen, eller ett par veckor innan när livmoderhalsen börjar mjukas upp, förkortas eller öppna sig.

    Hur ser slemproppen ut?

    Slemproppen kan se ut som en lite rosa eller något brun, geléaktig substans och liknas ofta med flytningar. Den kan vara tjock, klibbig och ibland lite blodig. Ibland kommer den ut som en stor klump men den kan också komma ut i omgångar. 

    Vissa märker inte att slemprroppen lossnar för att den ofta är så pass lik en flytning. Andra märker att den kommit ut när man torkar sig med toalettpappret. 

    Slempropp eller flytning?

    Det kan vara svårt att skilja en slempropp från en flytning. Håll utkik efter tjocka klumpar som är klibbiga och ibland lite blodiga. Det kan vara en liten mängd rosa eller brun geléliknande substans som kommer ut som en stor klump eller i mindre delar.

    Det är normalt att se en liten mängd blod i slemmet men du bör ändå alltid kontakta din barnmorska eller valda förlossningsavdelning om du märker att den innehåller färskt blod, som är mer än bara en strimma. 

    Hur långt är det till förlossningen när slemproppen går?

    Det är inte möjligt att säga en viss tid från att slemproppen lossnar tills förlossningen startar. Däremot kan du vara säker på att förlossningen har startat om slemproppen går samtidigt som du upplever regelbundna smärtsamma sammandragningar. Den kan dock komma ut flera dagar eller veckor innan förlossningen startar.

    Att slemproppen lossnar kan kännas spännande. Du behöver dock inte kontakta vården eller göra något annat för att den lossnat. Om du tror att förlossningen närmar sig kan du hålla utkik efter andra tecken på att förlossningen är på gång! Nu är det bara att vänta på det första mötet med din bebis.
