Why should I do an early ultrasound?

An early ultrasound gives you a first confirmation of the pregnancy and shows if everything is developing as it should. Many people find it a reassuring moment. It is also a time when you can see how many fetuses are in your belly - about 2% of all pregnancies in Sweden are twin pregnancies!

I'm worried about my ultrasound - is this common?

Yes, it is perfectly normal to feel anxious before the ultrasound. Many pregnant women want to see early on if everything looks good. An early ultrasound can provide that reassurance.

When can I have an early ultrasound?

Between weeks 8 and 11, an early ultrasound can show the fetus and any heart activity.

When is the first ultrasound done through the healthcare system?

The first ultrasound is usually offered from week 12 in connection with the so-called KUB. Many choose to supplement with an early ultrasound before then for extra security.

How do I book my early ultrasound?

You book easily yourself - without a referral. Choose an appointment that suits you at Aleris Ultragyn by clicking here.

How many ultrasounds are done during pregnancy?

Usually, two ultrasounds are offered through the healthcare system - but many people want to see their baby earlier and follow the development closely. An early ultrasound will give you answers.

Do I need to pee before the ultrasound?

For early ultrasounds, a slightly full bladder can give a clearer picture, so it's good if you haven't peed for two hours before the visit (if possible!). For vaginal ultrasound, this does not matter.

What does an early ultrasound cost?

An early ultrasound at Aleris Ultragyn costs SEK 650. It is easily booked via the website or phone, click here to find out more!

Is there any risk with an early ultrasound?

No, ultrasound is a safe and proven method used in healthcare all over the world. It uses sound waves, not radiation, and does not affect you or your baby.
In many other countries, many more ultrasounds are performed than are included in the Swedish antenatal care journey, so it is neither dangerous nor unusual to perform more ultrasounds, especially in early pregnancy.

The first few weeks are full of anticipation and dreams. Seeing a small glimpse of what is growing can be a memory to carry with you for a long time. here kan du se lediga tider för att boka ett tidigt ultraljud hos Ultragyn 💛
