    Sommaren är här och ett steg i taget förflyttar vi oss från vardagen inomhus till att spendera maximalt med tid utomhus. Vad behöver man då ha koll på när det kommer till solskydd och vad innebär optimalt skydd mot solen? 

    Det finns en uppsjö av tips och råd när det kommer till solskydd för barn och som förälder kan det vara svårt att navigera genom dem alla. Därför håller vi oss till grunderna: vad som gäller när det kommer till vistelse i solen för de små, skillnaden på olika solkrämer och tips som underlättar vardagen en solig sommardag.

    Solskydd för barn: vad gäller under 1 år?

    Små barn har extra känslig hud eftersom den fortfarande utvecklas i så tidig ålder. Därför bör barn som ännu inte har fyllt 1 år undvika att spendera tid i solen samt använda tunna kläder som täcker hela kroppen. Från 6 månaders ålder går det bra att smörja in barnet med SPF på de områden som lätt exponeras för sol, som ansiktet.

    Solskydd för barn: vad gäller över 1 år?

    Barn över 1 år bör använda solkräm men ska ändå undvika att vistas i direkt sol mitt på dagen när strålarna är som starkast. Kläder som skyddar är också viktigt, även solglasögon och keps eller solhatt bör användas dagligen.

    Ska man välja kemiskt eller fysikaliskt filter? 

    I solkrämsvärlden finns två typer av solskydd: fysikaliskt och kemiskt. Så låt oss reda ut hur de skiljer sig åt! Det fysikaliska filtret lägger sig som ett skyddande lager på huden och när solens strålar når huden så reflekteras de bort. Ett fysikaliskt filter verkar direkt vid insmörjning och konsistensen är oftast av de lite tjockare slaget. Det kemiska filtret tar istället upp UV-strålarna och gör dem till helt ofarlig strålning i huden. Det tar ofta en dryg halvtimme innan skyddet börjar verka och konsistensen är generellt sett tunnare än hos ett fysikaliskt filter.

    Tipsen för optimalt solskydd i sommar!

    • Välj lekparker och aktiviteter i skuggan, särskilt mellan kl 11-15 när solen är som starkast
    • Kläder, hatt och solglasögon är det absolut bästa skyddet, komplettera med solkräm
    • Använd solhatt/keps även på molniga dagar och i skuggan
    • Välj vattenfast solkräm med minst SPF 30, men allra helst SPF 50 
    • Använd UV-kläder som skyddar mot strålning
    • Smörj in huden ofta under en dag och använd generellt mer solkräm än du tror att du behöver
    • Vid motstånd av insmörjning: låt barnet smörja själv! En ren smink-svamp eller en borste kan enkelt göra appliceringen rolig och låta barnet tro att hen är i kontroll – ett vinnande koncept!
