    Något som många gravida tror att de måste ge upp medan de väntar barn är ost av olika slag. Det beror på bakterien listeria som eventuellt kan hittas i viss ost. Får man exempelvis äta mozzarella som gravid? Även om vissa ostar ska undvikas så finns det faktiskt en uppsjö av olika ostar som går alldeles utmärkt att äta!

    Det är väldigt ovanligt att gravida drabbas av listeria i Sverige, men eftersom listeria kan hittas i olika opastöriserade ostar bör dessa undvikas under graviditeten. Eventuell smitta kan nämligen vara skadligt för barnet. Däremot behöver du inte undvika all ost, det finns fortfarande ett stort utbud av goda ostar som du får äta hur mycket du vill av!

    Vad är listeria?

    Listeria är en bakterie som kan orsaka sjukdom hos personer med nedsatt immunförsvar och gravida. Bakterien finns i naturen och därmed även på en del livsmedelsråvaror, och kan få fäste i lokaler på utrustning där livsmedel tillverkas. Därför kan den vara svår att bli av med – särskilt eftersom listeria kan försöka sig i kyla och helt utan syre. 

    Det är bra att ha koll på kost och näring under graviditeten, som att äta nyckelhålsmärkt och dricka mycket vätska.

    Här är listan på ost som du får äta när du är gravid (ja, mozzarella är ok!):

    • All sorts hyvelbar hårdost i bit eller skivor, så som herrgård, gouda, prästost och liknande
    • Parmesan
    • Smältost eller mjukost som räkost, skinkost och ädelost på tub eller i ask
    • Färskost som Cream Cheese, marscarpone, ricotta och andra bredbara, förpackade färskostar
    • Mozzarella
    • Halloumi
    • Fetaost
    • Dessertostar som Gruyère, Comté och Manchego

    All ost som tillagas och hettas upp till 70 grader går också utmärkt att äta, oavsett sort, och det beror på att eventuell listeria dör vid upphettning till 70 grader. 

    Om det inte står på ost-förpackningen att osten är gjord på obehandlad/opastöriserad mjölk så kan du utgå från att mjölken har pastöriserats och alltså går bra att äta. Det finns dock ett par ostar som du bör undvika även om de är gjorda på pastöriserad mjölk. Dessa är mögel-och kittostar som brie, gorgonzola, chèvre, vacherol och taleggio.
